One nation under God,

INDIVISIBLE

with liberty and justice for all.

Who would have thought that so few words said so long ago would spark a light inside each American on such a sorrowful day like this. The bumper stickers and mass produced flags all faded from their display over the year, yet their power and true color not faded.

I think of the countless innocent souls lost on that day and hear the ring from a strike upon the liberty bell for each one. Over and over it rings, louder and louder, but the crack never grows. Our faith never more full, our pride never as strong, and our strength never more deep. I weep for the lives lost a year ago today, but I also weep for the innocence that went with them. The unity gained in the hearts and souls of every American is little consolation to their loss, but a lasting reminder that their unknowing sacrifice held results that no man could hope to achieve.

This day my heart is heavy with sorrow and love of country.

This day we remember,

That tomorrow

We will not forget.
