I
would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people
out there who have been so supportive of me and my efforts here
at Yotamaster.com. When I began building this site I didn't know
exactly what i was going to do with it, but due to all of your
comments and encouragement it has grown into an outlet that i
feel I needed a long time ago. With that said lets get on to this
installment.
Any Given Sunday
I
am stepping totally out on a limb on this one, so bear with me
and maybe we will both gain some incite into a topic that has
really bothered me for a long time. Abortion (whoa did he say
the "A" word?). Now I know that a few of you out there
are already steaming at the things you are sure I am going to
rant about this one, and your probably right (but lets face it
if you don't read it you may never know).
Isn't
it about time someone stood up and took a stance on this (and
a lot of other) issues out there? Lord knows the politicians wont
touch this one with a 10 foot public relations stick, unless they
happen to be at a Pro Choice or Pro Life convention then their
stance is so clear isn't it.
There
are always two sides to every story, and this one stands out in
my mind as one of the biggest differences between the two groups.
Never compromising, never agreeing, never at piece, but can they?
I don't think so. Both sides have their convictions and I admire
some of their dedication to their beliefs, but alas as always
my ramble starts about......now.
Do
you think this edition is about the rights and wrongs of the abortion
issue? If you do then you haven't been reading very deep into
my armchair philosophies have you? On the contrary this is all
about the a fore mentioned convictions that some of these groups
share.AM I going to hammer one group and not another? is one right
and one wrong? Is it a sin? Is it murder? Hmmmmmm?
I
have to stand (stepping up on to my soap box) and be one voice
to say that enough is enough. I understand that to many abortion
is murder, but how can these zellocs justify bombing an abortion
clinic or killing an abortion doctor? Remember all of you out
there that can turn such an act into a morsel that you can just
choke down enough to sleep at night, there was this little thing
that was here before you "herd a voice from god" or
"read in the good book" that this was an act that would
be condoned. Its called the first commandment. You remember don't
you? you know the one that your view on abortion is based on.
Thou shalt not kill. I am sure that in all of these peoples studies
out there that they had to read it once or twice.
I am
really sorry if this offends some of you out there with the pro
life view, but this irritates me like you don't know. Religious
fanatics are a strange bunch and I think some of the most dangerous
people in this country. A man walks into an abortion clinic at
9:00am with a pregnant woman on his arm. Fighting his way through
the crowd of violent protesters who spit on them and are barely
held back by security, they are let in through the security gate.
Once inside he wipes the tear from his terrified companions cheek
as they are led to an examining room. After meeting with the nurse
they wait for the doctor, he quietly sits, his arm around here,
and gently smiles.
The
doctor walks in accompanied by his nurse (a standard practice
with a male doctor) he smiles gently in a reassuring way and turns
to read her chart. The handle of his 357 peeps out of his over
coat, a measure he had taken after being threatened day after
day. He turns and says "now lets take a look at you then".
The
man with the woman stands, pulls a pistol from his belt and opens
fire. Screaming "die sinners, die". Confusion rings
out and in a moment of clarity the man sees the nurse and doctor
laying dead in a pool of their blood on the floor, and he smiles
in satisfaction that he had done Gods work. At his trial he site
proud as they describe his planning and affiliation with several
radical right wing Religious groups.
Shocking? Appalling? I am sorry
to say, it is true, it happened.
If
you haven't guessed I am pro choice, but that doesn't jade the
fact that murder and terrorism of these medical personal is still
a crime and a bigger sin then anything there beliefs let them
do. It brings a tear to my eye whenever I think about it. This
is still a free country America, and the same freedom that allows
women to justify abortion is the same that allows you to be opposed
to it. It saddens me that a doctor, an educated man who dedicated
his life to helping his fellow man, should end up shot dead on
a floor for the same commitment that makes him such a valued member
of the community. He is the man I admire, a man that every day,
despite the threat and violence, continues to help those who need
him. The coward who shot him is just that a coward.
Remember
this people, abortion is a choice, a right, the separation of
church and state guarantees this choice to those that wish to
make it. If it is taken from us haven't we lost a little of that
that keeps us free?
Am
I a sinner? I am sure there are those of you out there that have
thought that a time or two through this. To you I say this; when
I die and go before St. Peter at the pearly gates to be judged,
you are more than welcome to join me, and hear what HE has to
say, till then fuck off because you are not Gods and do not have
neither the power or wisdom to judge anyone.
Through out my life I have to
tell you that the ones that have screwed me the worst were the
deeply religious. Why? Because to them it is ok to cheat, steal,
and hurt because they will be forgiven on Sunday. I will meet
my maker with no fear, because I treat others as I would have
them treat me, not because I had to go and clean my slate on Sunday
from the things that I had done to others that week. Weather you
believe or not, doesn't change the fact that you to will someday
stand in that line and face the man as an equal to all others,
judged on your actions.
