Well
you knew it had to happen sooner or later, that's right, Yotamaster
is going to Ramble about politics; more to the point politicians.
I chose this topic because of the (fast approaching) elections
that face us all. With that said I guess the only thing left to
do is kick it in the ass and see if it squeals.
First
I want to delve into what used to be, what is now, and what may
come. I think I really need to touch on this because, lets face
it America, Camelot is dead. Long since gone are the leaders that
the nation looks up to and idolizes. Why do you think this is?
In my opinion the whole game of politics has changed. No more
are the days when it is one government in service of the people,
it has become one people in service to a government. There used
to be a day when a politician was elected to office and served
the better interests of their constituents, but now when a politician
is elected he (more times than not) is there for his interests.
Reelection is the goal and money and contacts made along the way
the prize. For instance, how can someone who gets reelected over
and over again to the same office, and spends most of their time
in another part of the state or country be in touch with their
voters? After a while even the most zelouse politician falls to
the temptation of back door politics.
Let's
look at the presidential race that is happening right now. Mr.
Busch has raised more campaign money than any other candidate
in history. Don't you think his vote has been bought and paid
for? How about Mr. Gore? There's a real winner, I mean come on
Democrats did you really think he stood a chance? Sure there are
other candidates but I think my point is clear, I haven't really
seen anything solid representing what they stand for. All I see
is what they stood for when it helped them, do you really think
a presidential candidate would stand up at a pro choice convention
and say he's pro life (I don't think so).
The two party system is
ok, if the two damn parties work together for a common good. As
we have it now the two are against each other just to be against
each other. Now is when I am going to probably piss a lot of you
off. have you ever noticed hoe the congressional investigations
become more frequent and nasty the closer to election time? Not
to single any one side out (but I will anyway) the Republicans
have become the masters of smear, it seems to me that ever since
Reaganomics they've had a chip on their shoulder and are out to
try and make everyone else look bad.
President
Clinton (and it is President not Mr. that pisses me off, no matter
what you think of him he is still our President and deserves that
respect and I spit on the press for belittling the position that
way) went through all of the investigations, White Water, then
the Monica Luinski thing. This was about the biggest bunch of
shit I have ever seen. Do you have any idea how much money was
spent investigating this? Do you know how much Kenneth Star made
while investigating this (would job security be an issue if you
were him?)? How about the use of cocaine by a certain Presidential
Candidate? Lets face it people we are not infallible, maybe the
Clintons' had an open marriage, maybe he cheated, but if you were
in his shoes wouldn't you deny it? I am married and believe me
if I got a hummer at the office you better believe I would deny
it till the day I die. I am sure President Clinton got it from
Misses Clinton, and let me tell you, at that moment, Kenneth Star
was a vacation in the Bahamas to the President. As far as the
drug stuff goes, I have it on very good authority that a lot of
politicians use drugs, hookers, and anything else they can. Look
at it in perspective, if you can't send a group of guys (lodges,
clubs, Air Force pilots) out together without these devises arising,
what do you think is going to happen when a man reaches the point
of power where all everyone around you is doing is smoochin on
your big, destined to get reelected But.
What
about Linda Tripp, yah, what about Linda Tripp? This back stabbing
bitch should be prosecuted for illegal phone tapping. I want to
know (but have a pretty good idea) who offered her this deal?
If it was you or I that did this, only to say a lesser politician
(one they weren't after), would we be free to get cosmetic surgery
(thank god Linda, thank you for that anyway) or would we be spending
a lot of quiet nights with Bubba, testing the theory that a man
can't get pregnant.
Yes
I am upset at what is happening to this country, not because I
don't believe in it (just the opposite) I love it, love it to
much to watch power hungry, double talking, pecker polishers ruin
it in the name of their account balance. Do you have any idea
how many votes your representative missed last year? I got a good
one, like we would ever see it, lets post the votes on the evening
news. You know like who voted, who missed, what they voted on.
We could do it like the baseball scores, Lord knows I am more
interested in my representative voting to discontinue school lunches,
so he can get a vote for another pay raise, than I am who beat
the Yankees. Wow what a concept, accountability, community involvement,
true representation. Bet we would have quite a fight on our hands
(from unknown forces) for a program like this. Oh one more little
tid bit, how do I vote myself a raise? I know a couple of hundred
thou (on the books, who knows what's off) is hard to live on,
especially when your travel is picked up by the people, for the
people, to screw the people.
I
have only one more thing to express in this on going ramble. Quite
all of your whining and sniveling. Yes, all of the you out there
bitching about who is in a certain office, obviously there were
more people than you that thought the guy you were cheering for
wasn't the best choice; and for all of those real ignorant individuals
out there who didn't even vote, you can't bitch about anything,
because you gave up that right when you failed to exercise the
first one.
All politicians are crooked in my eyes,
the trick is electing the ones that are less crooked than the
others.
